Suryachour, best camping place🥰
Suryachour (सूर्यचौर), also spelled Suryachaur or Suirechaur , is a scenic hilltop viewpoint in Shivapuri Rural Municipality, Nuwakot District, Nepal, at roughly 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) elevation. It is known for broad views over Nuwakot and the Kathmandu Valley and, in clear weather, Himalayan panoramas.
The views
The main attraction is the high, open vantage point . Ganesh Himal and Manaslu are among the prominent mountains visible from Suryachour, while sources also report views toward the Annapurna and Langtang ranges; below, the landscape opens toward Nuwakot's valleys and parts of Kathmandu Valley.
What to do
Suryachour works particularly well as a short nature escape rather than a major sightseeing complex. The area has become popular for picnics, hiking and biking, while tourism development has brought more restaurants and lodging to the locality; its combination of mountain scenery and relative proximity to Kathmandu is central to its appeal.
Getting there
From the Kathmandu side, Suryachour is accessible by road and hiking routes; published local reporting places it about 13 km by road from Samakhushi Chowk , while another established approach is a roughly four-hour hike from Kakani. Gurje Bhanjyang, southeast of the viewpoint, is an important access point in the surrounding Shivapuri area.
Why it stands out
Compared with Nepal's major trekking destinations, Suryachour offers Himalayan scenery without requiring a multi-day trek . Its roughly 2,000-meter ridge setting, open landscapes and accessibility have helped it develop from a local picnic and relaxation spot into an emerging tourism destination, with increasing hospitality investment reported in recent years.
